|
|
| We would like to invite you to participate
in this project. |
| You should only participate if you want to;
choosing not to take part will not disadvantage
you in any way. Before you decide whether you
want to take part, it is important for you to
read the following information carefully and
discuss it with others if you wish. Ask us if
there is anything that is not clear or if you
would like more information. |
| This study is intended to explore ways of
assisting individuals in managing anxiety associated
with dissertations and we are recruiting student
participants who are completing dissertations
in the near future. If you agree to take part
you will be asked to complete questionnaires
and to attend four one-hour sessions over a
two week period where you will have industry
standard sticky electrodes attached to your
head for recording the electrical activity of
your brain and monitors recording your heart-rate.
You will listen via headphones to recorded information
that is intended to teach you strategies for
coping better with stress. The procedures will
be fully explained to you and you will have
the opportunity to ask questions. You will also
be encouraged to practise in your own time what
you have learned in the formal sessions. You
will be free to withdraw from the study at any
point without giving a reason. All information
we gather from you will be recorded in a coded
form and will not be revealed to any one in
a way that would allow you to be identified.
If you decide to take part you will be given
this information sheet to keep and be asked
to sign a consent form. |
| It is up to you to decide whether to take
part or not. If you decide to take part you
are still free to withdraw at any time and without
giving a reason. |
All data will be collected
and stored in accordance with the Data Protection
Act 1998.
